What else do we offer?
We believe in enhancing a child's learning by broadening the education and general skills over and above the general curriculum and we offer the following extra sessions*:
Drama and Music
Alexandra takes both these sessions which occur on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Music is beneficial to children because it helps to teach them to listen, differentiate between aural sounds and hear in new ways. It teaches them about different instruments, gives them the opportunity to play with instruments, hear and understand rhythm, and create their own music. Drama, as well as being part of the curriculum, allows children to exercise their creativity and imagination in a safe and comfortable environment. Pretending helps children recall their experiences, they have to select relevant information, they are encouraged to cooperate and share ideas. This is an essential in developing intellectual skills. £70 each per term. French Mathilde is our bilingual French teacher, equally fluent in English and French. She makes the language accessible to our children by using fun and interactive methods, and her puppet. New words are introduced each week. Children benefit from learning a second language, it increases their intellectual capacity immensely. Cooking Each week we choose a different recipe to cook. We try to match up the recipe to the topic of the week. Cooking encourages literacy, scientific and mathematical skills. The children are given the opportunity to 'read' the recipe, select the correct ingredients, measure, pour and mix the ingredients. They see how, when you mix different ingredients together, states and colours change. No charge. |
Active Planet
Every Thursday afternoon Fernando arrives with a bag full of exciting games and physical activities for the children. Being active and doing exercise is essential to children, to develop their enthusiasm and love for encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle. They love their time outside doing a variety of fun and challenging activities that help to develop coordination, strength, agility and balance. These activities range from fun games to obstacle courses. And equipment ranges from balls, to hula hoops to quoits. £100 per term. Piano Joana is our piano teacher. She allows the children to expand their imaginations and develop an understanding of the piano in a fun, imaginative and inspiring way. The children choose the songs they wish to sing and play. They are taught about how a piano is made, what the different sounds are and are given the opportunity to play on the piano with Joana guiding them. They engage in role play as well and have to listen out for 'their' music to know their cue. £27 per term. |
* These sessions are not included in the fees, and they are optional. It is important to say that while these activities are very beneficial to our children, if you choose not to take part, your child will still be provided with equally-stimulating activities.
